Welcoming Southbank Sinfonia to Birmingham

2022 marked the 20th anniversary of Southbank Sinfonia.

Each year, Southbank Sinfonia welcomes 33 of the world’s most talented graduate musicians to form an orchestra like no other. EFG’s strategic partnerships have talent development as a core value, and for the last 20 years Southbank Sinfonia has taken a wonderful cohort of young, aspiring musicians and given them a launch pad that enables them to go on and achieve great things in their professional career.

Over the course of a year, Southbank Sinfonia narrow down an initial field of 500 candidates to the final 33 musicians who will go on to form this season’s Fellowship. The young musicians are reviewed in a multitude of different areas, including playing ability and character, as well as leadership, collaboration, and performance skills. As a registered charity, Southbank Sinfonia have generated well over £5 million on behalf of young musicians, providing bursaries, transforming livelihoods, and creating remarkable career opportunities.

Players who have completed the fellowship now occupy prominent seats in leading orchestras worldwide, including the Philharmonia and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. In addition to the main orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia alumni continue to join and perform together.

EFG have proudly supported Southbank Sinfonia over the last 10 years. This October we are delighted to host a quartet from the orchestra for clients and guests of EFG Harris Allday at The Grand Hotel in Birmingham.
