The Young Persons’ Money Index 2022-23 revealed that 26% of those surveyed would like to learn more about pursuing a career in finance. A career in finance provides a fast-paced and dynamic learning opportunity, with room for continuing professional development.
On Thursday 13 July our colleagues joined together to host a work experience taster day in Birmingham Head office, for those exploring their early career options following school or university.
After registration and networking, Caroline Sisson, Senior Investment Director introduced the day, discussing her personal career path into the industry, and professional development with CISI post-university to become an Investment Manager.
The session was followed by the research team, delivering an insight into funds – showcasing how to select favourable funds when supporting our investment managers across the UK.
Following lunch with the EFG Harris Allday team, our guests were joined by operations, compliance, and marketing – hosting interactive sessions to understand more about the role of operations, to developing a futureproof marketing strategy – tailored to various client types.
Wealth management is an exciting industry to be a part of. Many large firms operate on a global scale, with some professionals choosing to further develop their careers through opportunities abroad. Several firms within financial services offer graduate schemes, summer internships and apprenticeship programmes, providing opportunities to join the industry from various ages or educational backgrounds.
Majority of our colleagues have also joined professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to further expand their industry knowledge and progress their careers.
We look forward to introducing future work experience sessions at EFG Harris Allday. If you would be interesting in joining one of our events in 2024, please email events@efgha.com.
