Conversations with the Bank of England – Birmingham Edition

Earlier this May we welcomed Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce to EFG Harris Allday’s Birmingham office at 103 Colmore Row, hosting the latest Bank of England Breakfast Roundtable.

Graeme Chaplin, Bank of England representative for the West Midlands and Oxfordshire region chaired the roundtable, providing an economic overview and insights from the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee.

Edward James, Managing Director at EFG Harris Allday welcomed eight Business Leaders from across the Midlands region, each representing various sectors – adding valuable expertise and insights from their personal experiences. Louise Delaney, Client Relationship Officer at EFG Private Bank, and Peter Meckiff, Director at EFG Harris Allday joined the session, and were able to gain further understanding of the key challenges faced by business leaders across the West Midlands.

The Bank of England’s primary mission is to maintain monetary and financial stability, ensuring a stable economy for the UK. Following recent changes to interest rates and tariffs, business leaders are having to become more responsive and adapt their usual processes. Some operate on an international scale, and their ability to adapt has led them to invest in new opportunities.

These roundtable discussions provide delegates with the chance to inform decision-making about national monetary policy and learn from industry leaders facing similar experiences.

By listening to their perspectives, we can gain a greater understanding of key issues affecting local business communities. These networking opportunities enable leaders to connect and foster shared solutions which support future growth.
